for more information! · Returning to host this year's Festival is favorite Pippo Baudo, who, again, has been granted full control of the show. His female co-hosts are Claudia Gerini and Serena Autieri. The nightly lineup is as follows: March 4 – 1/2 Big and 1/2 Giovani will perform - the lineup is as follows: Oxa, Barbarossa, Eiffel 65, Dolcenera, Britti, Verdiana, Cammariere, Daniele, Zanicchi, Fiorellino, Lisa, Merola, Miro and Ruggeri, Zanier, Leali, Laquidara, DeAndre' and Zurawski. March 5 – 1/2 Big and 1/2 Giovani will perform - the lineup is as follows: Tatangelo and Straga', Minghi, Alexia, Pia and SuperZoo, Ruggiero, Giglio, Solo and Little Tony, Alina, Negrita, Lila, D'Angelo, Pedali, Russo, Fasano, Syria, Allunati, Silvia Salemi and Ferry. March 6 – All 20 performers will perform March 7 – All Giovani will perform and winner will be decided March 8 – the grand finale, all 20 Big and super

There will be a lifetime achievement award given out to one of the first Sanremo stars, Nilla Pizzi. She performed on the first ever Sanremo festival with "Grazie dei Fior." Past awards have gone to Domenico Modugno, Tony Renis and Roberto Murolo.
T here are a few former winners
in this year's festival: Matia Bazar won with the song "...E Dirsi Ciao" in 1978 and have been doing well with
their songs in a number of past festivals, including a win last year and 3rd place in 2001
year; Antonella Ruggiero was actually a member of Matia Bazar during those early years. Fausto Leali won in 1989 with Anna Oxa("Ti
Lascero'').  and Oxa won on her own a couple of years ago; Barbarossa was a winner in early 90's with "Portami a Ballare;"
Enrico Ruggeri is a two-time winner with the
rock hit “Mistero” and “Si Puo Dare di
piu” in the late 80’s, sung together with
Umberto Tozzi and Gianni Morandi; De Andre' was a 3rd place winner in '93 with "Dietro la Porta." Anna Tatangelo, of course, was the winner of last year's Nuove Proposte competition.
The scoring in this year's Sanremo is scheduled to be the same as last year:
- a panel of ten music experts, composed oof internationally known artists,
producers and critics from the entertainment industry (they will probably
control a larger share of the voting) will no longer vote on I Big, only on I Giovani and will make up just 25% of that vote
- a jury made up of representatives from aall parts of Italy; these will be
regular citizens representing every demographic, that will change every night
- the final third is a group of Italian ciitizens who will get to vote by phone
and represent the cd buyer
